Things Everyone Should Have

This list keeps evolving, refer back often.  A list of items to stock and store which just might come in handy, are inexpensive, and aren't bad to have around in any event.  Some of these may have already been mentioned in other Prepped Nation pages.  Join the Discussion Forum to suggest your own!

  • Toilet paper
  • Bic Lighters
  • Dental powder, floss, and tooth brushes (without dentists, dental hygiene is even more important.  Dental powder is lighter and cheaper than toothpaste)
  • Vitamin C powder (a powerful health booster)
  • Duct tape
  • Rope and string
  • At least 100 yards fishing line (not for fishing, but for camp/field perimeter alarms)
  • Metal shears
  • Tampons (even if there are no women...why?  Gunshot wounds.)
  • Leatherman tool
  • Hard liquor (can be used to disinfect, also good barter, pour into nip bottles)
  • First aid supplies including suture kit, iodine, bullet extractor foreceps, compression pads, rolls of gauze, kratom (legal pain killer)
  • Hydrogen peroxide, wound irrigator
  • Iodized and uniodized salt (use uniodized salt for saline solution, used to irrigate deep wounds
  • Folding shovel
  • Activated food-grade charcoal (this is what all ER's keep on hand for poisoning)
  • Tin foil
  • Plastic child's wading pool (these can make awesome solar water distillers!)
  • Magnet window alarms (see below)
  • Medium gauge plastic sheet (for solar still)
  • Razor blades, snake bite kit
  • Hatchet
  • Camp woodsaw
  • Iodized salt
  • Chicken wire (if you ever start to grow your own food you'll soon find out you need to protect from bunnies and birds)
  • Neem oil, organic (many uses but is also a great natural plant pesticide.  Learn the many uses of neem.)
  • Hand-crank emergency AM/FM radio

Cheap and has good reviews reporting that two minutes of cranking gives about 35 minutes of light, high and low setting, convenient carabiner hook.

Surgical tubing can be used with plastic sheeting and a children's plastic splashing pool to make a solar water distiller.  Also can be used as a tourniquet.  You can also use it to make a slingshot.  Just another one of those prep things you don't want to be without...

With these guys you can make a tripwire alarm which goes off when someone tries to cross your perimeter.  That could be a campsite of a field behind your house.  Combined with dogs no one will be able to get within 100 feet of your family without you knowing it.

Patriot Nurse says we need one of these if we are going to be administering antibiotics as emergency medicine.
